Is there a word bigger or GRANDER than gratitude that could try and describe how the past week has made us all feel!? I mean, technically there’s lots of looonger, bigger words, but I’m not sure any of them can sandwich these feelings into one word better. We are SO grateful. We are so proud. And ha, we’re a little tired! But I think the energizing glow of our Consultants will keep us buzzing all month long.
First of all…they REALLY all seemed to love Daydream Believer. I mean, REALLY REALLY love it! And that makes me feel like a million bucks. And I can only imagine how Ashley feels – her first Spring release, from start to finish! It will be a part of her story forever. And we’re just getting started?! I can’t even imagine what beauty we will create in the future together! I’m so happy to be designing in this beautiful bubble with her.
Second of all…we let a couple secrets out…how could we not!? These are our girls after all. I wonder how many of them have spilled the beans!? Welp, you won’t have to keep your lips sealed any longer lady friends…
We’ve got more women’s designs headed your way! We’re trying a whole bunch of different shapes, styles, fabrics, colors, you name it—trying to figure out what Wildflowers Women’s clothing looks like to us! With an outfit or two coming with each release, you’ll be able to make picture perfect outfit pairings for *almost* the whole family! Yeah, I’m not quite brave enough to get into Dad’s clothes yet, even though I think Mark (the handsome husband) would be more than enough adorable inspiration…
Like I said, we’re prepared to dress like 3/4 of the family now!! YEP—we have a few special boy pieces coming with each release this season! Ahhh…I’m so excited. I haven’t designed boys in years, so we’re taking it slow and steady— a button-up here, a pair of shorts there, and maybe a bowtie or two. I hope your dapper dudes love them as much as I do!! I know Kate, our photographer, can’t wait to dress her precious boy Hayes in them, and of course, our CEO, Ashton’s son Bennett had to make his Wildflowers debut and model the new looks!
Third of all,..just because I prefer odd numbers, I want to call out MY TEAM. That’s right, MY HOMETOWN HEROES – my office girls *and boys*. How lucky are we to be in this boat together?! I would be lost without my humans. I moved to Texas for a job and now I have a family, a colorful overwhelmingly creative career, and I’m just so thankful. You guys make my real life dreams come true!
And finally…someone reminded me of my own words on Friday night of Conference that I really need to keep in my nugget. It was weird to be quoted (even though she shortened it because…I, ha, talk/write A LOT), and even weirder that I wanted to take my own advice. “Wildflowers, they’re curious little plants…they POP UP out of nowhere, they can take over an entire garden if given the chance…they’re natural. They’re unique. And try to cut them down, I dare ya! I bet they’ll come back. Stronger than ever.”
Stronger than ever. That’s us. And my goodness, after last week, I FEEL it, don’t you!?
And now, let’s go do a little daydream believing.
It’s that time of year again! Time to welcome a new batch of incredible ladies to our Wildflowers family. Each season, we make our hiring post with fingers crossed that 1.) we get applicants (of course!) and 2.) that the ladies that apply are ready for a life-changing journey filled with over the-top-cuteness and a sisterhood to match. And with each hiring period, we find more and more GEMS. Women from different states with different backgrounds that bring something unique and amazing to our team. We’re over the moon to share with you our most recent group of Wildflowers’ Consultants! I can’t WAIT for these women to share Spring 2019 with you!!
Hellooooo, September! We’re so close to fall, I can almost taste it…key word here is ALMOST. The last lingering days of summer are really taking their sweet time around here! But who can complain when we’re safe and dry? And I know that isn’t the case for everyone right now, so I think I’ll count my blessings today.
Let us begin with blessing numero uno. Welp, we’ve got another gorgeous release around the corner for you! Is it vain that I think it’s so pretty, wonderful, and radiates pure magic? I feel like that sometimes. That I sound totally full of myself because when I finally see the designs come to real life I totally fall head over heels for them….again. And I want to show everyone. Like immediately. Sounds so braggy, right?! But love is love is love…haha and I simply love these designs. Speaking of falling head overs heels..do y’all remember the Nina Dress from Written in the Stars?! That dress was insane! She was my favorite last year, doused in pretty polka dots and pure raspberry. And now the french terry cutie is back again and even better this time around (if I do say so myself), all painted up in marigold magic.
Blessing numero dos! Our 3rd release of Pocketful of Wonder is a very, very special one. It’s the first release I worked on with my dear design mate, Ashley. And that’s why SHE’S blessing #2! Okay maybe I should have put her before the release, but…I think both of us would agree that these new designs deserve to be THE STARS OF THE SHOW! (Right, Ashley, you totally agree?!) And while we’re here discussing stars of the show -let’s talk about that Cosmic Crush Ballet Dress. Add those magical moons (one of Ashley’s first fabric designs) with that stunning starry night knit bodice and you get a dress that’s totally written in the stars for our third release!
Last blessing for the day – I’m going to give this one to our Consultants. That’s like…A LOT of blessings to count, right!? These ladies, near and far, mean the world to me. We couldn’t do any of this with you guys. Good luck on your Pop-up Parties today! I know they’re going to be outta this world!
AND if you still haven’t found your Consultant – use our handy dandy link here to find one! http://bit.ly/2uBWVeL
Sometimes inspiration hits you like lightning…and sometimes it just doesn’t. This release you’re about to feast your eyes upon totally swept me away. From start to finish, it’s like the colors and the fabrics had a mind of their own and I was just there to help tell their tale.
I really wanted this release to emulate this extraordinary season. I mean, we all love Fall right? The cool weather that’s perfect for soft, cozy layers, the delicious pumpkin spice lattes, and the wonderful crisp smell in the air are undeniable reasons to fall head over heels for this blustery, cuddly time of year. For this magnificent season, I REALLY wanted to create my own little autumn world.
The colors…a lot of these were brand new shades to me. I looked for real rusty oranges, and a rustic shade of a brown that felt richer than our Acorn brown in Release One, and the blues and greens? Well I wanted them to feel like watery, jewel toned magic. That’s probably a weird way to describe a color but…wait until you see that Misty Jade Green. And Bottle Green! It’s this creamy deep green that I can’t describe anyway other than by using it’s Pantone name! And then you’ll see lots of striking chartreuse which works as a warm balance to our Blush Pink and splashes of Faience Blue.
And…of course there’s tons of new styles! Sometimes I don’t know even know why or how I design SO many pieces?! I mean, there’s one thing to mix and match the fabrics over and over and over until I find the perfect combination to make my eyes happy, but it’s another to try and create a whole new batch of silhouettes each release. I guess what I’m saying is it’s a ton of work and I’m worried I might bite off more than I can chew one of these days?! Because we all know dreaming and doing are different things…but somehow at Wildflowers I feel like I can ALWAYS make my dreams happen.
I don’t know if you can tell or not, but I’m on cloud 9. As nerve wracking as it is to show you a peek inside my brain, it’s such an absolute honor to be able to. I’ll never have the right words to properly show my gratitude…to my team, Consultants, or to our amazing hostesses and customers. All I can continue to say is thank you!! Thank you to the MOON for allowing me to share another release with you all!
Is it possible to be too grateful? Or too thankful?! All I know is…that is what I feel constantly.
From one corner of this little Wildflowers world to the next…I have something, more likely, SOMEONE to be thankful for and grateful to. Someone that I feel I owe so, so much. Sometimes that person is just down the hall and sometimes that person works from her home in Lafayette. Today I want to share another handful of the amazing, one of kind women that help make all of my dreams come true. The gratitude I have for these ladies is pretty HUUUUGE.
I messaged Caitlin randomly on Facebook in January of 2017. We were throwing around the idea of starting a direct selling company and I remembered Caitlin from a photoshoot back in 2013. She was the super top seller at the time and was chosen to fly to a shoot and help me style all the pretties. We instantly connected over the cute clothes, but it was even more than that. She was so real, intelligent and articulate, with the best southern accent around. I could totally see WHY she was at the top of her game. So when we wanted to pick someone’s brain in the beginning stages of this big idea, Caitlin’s face appeared in my mind immediately! She drove to home office and after a few hours, this meet and greet became a job offer. We didn’t need a Director of Sales, we needed a CAITLIN! And the rest is history! Or history in the making… I can’t wait to see what we accomplish with this incredible leader at the helm!
Lisa is the newest gal in the family! I remember when Caitlin accepted the job, she mentioned her dear friend named Lisa who felt such a calling to be apart of Wildflowers…but the stars weren’t quite aligned…yet. One year later, with all the wonderful growth we’ve experienced, the time to get Caitlin a partner in crime was here! And Lisa was at the top of that list. Lisa flew in and met everyone in the home office, and we immediately fell for this sweet, composed, and talented woman! Her love for Wildflowers, leadership development, and sales, in general was evident immediately. Now this ambitious lady is taking care of our ‘newbies’ as we fondly call them. I know that under her leadership our new Consultants businesses are going to flourish!
Oh my sweet Caroline, our epitome of lovely Creative Direct really keeps our world spinning. What would I do without her uplifting spirit? Her undeniably thoughtful sensibilities? Working without this gal by my side is truly unimaginable to me. I don’t want to even think about it! Before I knew she existed, she knew all about me. She and her amazing mama Lynn had been reading Denise and my blog for years. And when I left my old gig, these two ladies made it a mission to find me. Little did they know, they weren’t finding me…they were saving me. I think back to when Denise passed away and when I struggled trying to find a new life for myself, a new world to hide away in, a purpose? Caroline and her beautiful family were standing there with open arms, welcoming me into their colorful world. Caroline and I were instantly thick as thieves, and seriously silly as can be together. And ever since she has been “my person” here in Austin.
Last but literally NEVER least, is my kitty, Andrea. Fierce. Fabulous. A true force of nature in a wonderful human shell. What I love most about her, other than her wickedly clever sense of humor and easy, confident demeanor, is how soft and sweet she can be with the people she loves. She’s so intentional about the people in her life, and when you become one of her ‘people’ you get to see even more of her sparkly, hilariously witty personality. Aside from all the fun we have together, this chick keeps me on my game! Ha, she keeps all of us on our game actually! She runs the social media for all of our brands, she helps Kate shoot flats, she helps me with all color commenting, and helps to coordinate all marketing efforts with Caroline. I don’t think there’s a thing here at Wildflowers that she doesn’t help with. That’s what makes her a jack of all trades, and a total jackpot of a friend, if you ask me!
How could Wildflowers be anything but great with people like this on our team? Together I think we can do pretty much anything.
Stay tuned to see the mountains we move next…including a sneak of Release 2 of Pocketful of Wonder!
Are you ready to see all of the endless possibilities our newest collection, Pocketful of Wonder, has to offer?! Are you ready to cozy up to all the soft knit pieces and take a spin in all of the full twirly skirts?! Okay, I guess these questions should be directed towards your daughter, but I know we all feel the same way about darling dresses here, am I right!? Sorry for all the questions, I sound like a pop quiz…I guess I’m really in the back-to-school mindset!
Looking through these photos all I can think about is the photo shoot. I love traveling down memory lane, and this shoot was one that I’ll never forget! It was the first time I really wanted to have a back-to-school vibe, complete with a real life school for a setting. But not just any school, Caitlin, our sales director extraordinaire, worked with the headmaster of her children’s’ school (John Paul the Great Academy) so that we could do the entire shoot on their campus in Lafayette, Louisiana! It was a hot day in June, and we had the whole place to ourselves…from classrooms to libraries to a brand new gym! And of course the beautiful lush green grounds covered in the most magical live oaks! Seriously this place was PERFECT for the first release of Pocketful of Wonder.
Caitlin even found the most adorable local girls to model in the shoot – including one of her daughters. Jessica Guillot, one of our Consultants, brought her two girls, and a few other customers/friends brought theirs too! Teshania, our customer service gal in Natchez, MS met us there and brought her spunky daughter. Teresa, our design manager for Eleanor Rose, came from Natchez too with her sweet granddaughter. It was like a big ol’ family reunion and I loved every sweaty minute of it. Chasing the girls around, singing The Greatest Showman at the top of my lungs to get a laugh, and spinning the girls around in between photos are definitely a few of my favorite memories…but the best part was seeing how happy these little ladies were to be AT the shoot with us, taking pictures and feeling like a million bucks in our designs! I hope the feeling of pride, gratitude, and all-around amazement that gives me never, ever wears off.
I loved getting to see a little part of Caitlin’s life down in Louisiana. She was the queen of all hostesses. Her snack drawer was even stocked just for us (I hear that’s NOT always the case from the locals: aka Frederick, Kat, and MG)! When we weren’t at the shoot we ate delicious brunch, lounged by her glorious pool, and ate crawfish for the first time. At least the first time for me (and I’m sure won’t be the last!)!
Ahhh…and now y’all are walking into Pop-Up Parties and seeing all of these designs and photos come to life. I always say you gotta SEE this stuff to believe it, so I hope you LOVE what you lay your eyes on today!!
Yesterday we said goodbye to the most incredible group of women. These gals flew in from all over the country to be with their Wildflower sisters, and to see Pocketful of Wonder for the first time! Oh my goodness, love was truly in the air! You know, I always trust that Caitlin is going to hire a great group of gals each season, but I’m consistently blown away by the human gems she finds! Their hearts, their sheer passion for Wildflowers, and OMG their personal style (it’s like a real life fashion show here!), completely mesmerize me and I couldn’t be more head over heels for each and every one of them!
Sometimes I don’t think I realize what sacrifices our Consultants make to come to conference, and to join the Wildflowers team in general! They leave their babies for hours and sometimes days at a time, step outside of their comfort zone, and have to learn SO MUCH (details of each new release, marketing tips, clothing styles, software, the list goes on) in such a short period of time. This week was…unreal. I watched our superstars receive awards for different sales goals last night and I couldn’t help but cry. I fangirl about my home office team all the time, but seeing THIS side of our crew recognized for their seriously insane achievements was an otherworldly experience and I’m humbled, thankful, and…speechless.
And while I’m floating on cloud nine feeling all warm and fuzzy, I want to give an introduction to a few of our Austin office gals that tend to be behind the scenes, or should I say, behind the SCREENS…
You’ve seen this girl here and there, but I’m not sure I’ve ever given her a proper shout out. Meet Erin, one of our two graphic artists in the office! Sweet and spunky Erin showed up at our doorstep right out a college SO ready to prove herself, so ready to show us that SHE was the gal for the job. And that attitude, sense of responsibility, and gung-ho spirit are ever present with this gal. Each season’s special logo starts in her brain, and really helps to shape the feeling of the over all season!
With a little more experience under her belt, Lauren is our lead graphic artist in the office. This fabulous fashionista is best known for keeping our website looking fresh and pretty, and making sure our Consultants get all the sales materials they need to have a successful season. This gal has got such a creative eye, from her funky outfits to her crazy good decorating skills, Lauren puts her own personal spin on everything she touches. Oh, and she’s like the Mary Poppins of props! Oh, you need a winter coat in the middle of July? Lauren has one in her car! You need a suitcase turned into a speaker for a party? Lauren made one, it’s in her car (lol)!
And last but not least, our mama bear Kate is the epic photographer turned videographer turned epic pom pom creator here at Wildflowers. This talented force of nature has continuously blown my mind with the beauty she creates from behind the lens. When I say she brings my designs to life, I really mean it. With every photo and video she shares, I feel like I get to see the world through her eyes (and that world is a GORGEOUS place). And to top off all this skill, she started a company this year that knocks my socks off! We’re all Pom Queens thanks to her (check out those earrings)!
I don’t know who came up with the expression “it takes a village” but I bet they had a team like I do.
Until next time…
Dressing mannequins, painting signs, and doing all the crafty-crafts… These are all sure signs that our SECOND Fall conference is just around the corner. Almost 100% (WHAT!!) of our consultants will be making the maiden voyage to Austin next Tuesday and we are trying our very best to pull out all the stops for them. This is the first time we actually rented a fancy-schmancy conference room to host everyone in…I feel so proud that we have a big enough group of gals now to fill a room like that! Did you know our first ever sales conferences was literally held in my office? Yep, we cleaned up our little building and welcomed the whole crew in! While I loved having everyone see where ‘the magic happens’, I think we’d feel very squished in the design room now.
Sometimes we feel a little squished back here as it is! And I LOVE IT. I love working so closely with our whole team. When I first got hired for Eleanor Rose, I had this big office all to myself… But when we started dreaming up Wildflowers, we knew I would need a partner in design…someone that has the other half of my brain in terms of fit, construction, and quality! That’s when we welcomed Mano to the team. Let me tell ya, I was DELIGHTED to share my office with this lady.
My girl Mano is patient, loving, and sweet to the core. I’ve never met someone so warm and loyal. And I’ve never worked with a tech designer that is so flexible with my crazy ideas. She never looks at me and says “we can’t do that” (even though I bet she wants to sometimes!!), even if the idea seems a little tricky, or dang near impossible. She’s in it to win it and will try and try until we nail the design or I say “LET’S START OVER.” I think patience is key when working with any designer and she shows it endlessly to me. I feel so blessed to call her a team mate and a dear friend. Plus, she’s the only gal around I trust with my sweet babe Margo, I swear Mano loves her like I do! How did I get so lucky!?
Now this chick is someone you haven’t heard much about….yet. And I say yet because she’s kind of a big deal! Meet Ashley, our newest designer. When I was pregnant, we began chatting about finding someone to help me design. I felt very protective of my role, and wasn’t going to just hire ANYBODY. I was going to be picky, heck, maybe I was going to be even a little difficult about who we hire… But then this gal I’ve known since high school, but barely knew at all, visits from Indiana, we randomly hang out, and a lightbulb in my brain lit up! She had never designed a thing in her life, but I could tell she had an eye for aesthetics…and I had a feeling that would translate perfectly into design. Well, not to toot my own horn, but a year later she has worked here for just over 6 months and I have never felt better about our Wildflowers designs. There is so much freshness coming your way (her first collection she helped with was Fall ’18 Release 3!), and I think Ashley and her modern take on vintage fabrics and fun silhouettes are to thank! More on this cute girl later, promise! I might even ask her to blog or something for ya sometime!
And I guess since I introduced the two gals that share the design office, I’ll re-introduce myself to those of you that may not know who this crazy Sam person is… I’m 29 and a new mom to my sweet baby girl Margo Denise! We all just took personality tests at the office and I’m an ENFP…which I think makes a lot of sense. I’m kinda boring, but I love to be fun…it’s just that boring is my default (I think the office girls might disagree with this!). My husband Mark and I have been married for 3 years and I’d be lost without his love and support (he’s a stay-at-home super dad!). I’ve been in this wonderful world of girl’s clothing for 10 years this September and I can hardly believe it. I had the best mentor and friend a girl could ask for, she paved the way for all this beauty I get to share with you.
Okay, I think that’s it for introductions today… Goodness knows there will be SO many next week at Conference!! I CAN’T WAIT!!!
I’m just gonna say it, guys…I feel like we haven’t talked in forever. I know, I know, it’s MY fault, but we’ve just been soooo busy. We waved goodbye to Best Day Ever, had a surprise online sale (what!?), traveled to Louisiana for our first Fall 2018 photo shoot, AND designed Spring 2019 first and second release (what what?!)! And we’re shooting the second release of Fall this week! We don’t take breaks around here, let me tell you.
As you can see there’s been A LOT on my mind lately, plus June is kind of a weird month for me. For many, actually. It’s around this time 3 years ago my dear friend Denise passed away. And also 3 years ago that I married the love of my life on her birthday and wedding anniversary. She and I had been planning a big wedding for October, but when she passed away the dream of the big wedding went with her. So I asked David if we could share their anniversary (it’s also HIS birthday, too! How cool/funny is that?!). He said yes. Mark and I were married 5 days later.
So yeah, June is weird, sometimes heartbreakingly-hard, but wonderful, too. I think of Denise all year long, but during this month I really can’t help but reflect on how much she taught me and gave me—she truly took a piece of herself and instilled it in me. And now I feel it in every part of my being. That’s the only reason I am capable of doing all this incredible stuff (well, that’s how I got here, but you know I couldn’t live without my team!). The guts I have now? The confidence I feel each day? I didn’t have an ounce of it back when Denise and I first worked together. I don’t know what it is now, but I feel like I can truly do ANYTHING…I can be anything! And I most certainly can DESIGN anything!
This crazy notion that you can design a dress that makes someone FEEL something has always been my guiding light. Denise, of course, taught me that. Our dresses aren’t just inventory on the shelves to me, or to any of us. And the fact that in a few weeks we get to share another batch of these beauties with you?! Ahh…feels like a never-ending lottery.
This Fall I wanted to show you a new world. Each release has it’s own point of view; it’s own special color palette and unique story told through the whimsical, thoughtful prints and ornate silhouettes.. And of course, Denise had a hand in my latest creations’ inspiration. In 2015, Denise was no longer designing, but she was scheming, oh yes! We planned on designing together in the future, but first…we would need a blog! And our blog was going to be called a “Pocketful of Wonder”.
A little over 3 years later, plans changed but the fact remains that I found my own little Pocketful of Wonder here in Austin, here with this team, here in this amazing world of Wildflowers. When we were thinking of a name for our Fall collection, I couldn’t shake that perfect sentiment…
Let’s be honest, the world’s a bit crazy these days, so being able to find your own Pocketful of Wonder is something you hold on to, something you cherish, and something you share. I hope this out of this world collection full of endless possibilities makes you feel that and so much more! Oh and I hope you think it’s cute, too 😉
P.S. A few weeks after we decided to name the collection Pocketful of Wonder, Teshania forwarded me an email from a customer named Heather. In that email Heather was lovely, and shared all the things she loves about her favorite WF dresses… But the best, craziest part was she mentioned her absolutely FAVORITE part of our designs? “These pockets of wonder” is what she wrote. I couldn’t believe it. Now I can FINALLY email her back and tell her how serendipitous her message was!
