SOMETHING TO CELEBRATE!

It’s the end of March…HOW IS IT THE END OF MARCH!? I swear 2019 just began yesterday. And I’m CERTAIN Daydream Believer just released, right!? But alas I am wrong!! Time has flown, and we’re approaching our 3rd release of the season—Pop-up Preview Day is TODAY!

You guys, this release makes my heart so, so happy. Let’s start with the colors…I pulled new shades I’ve never dreamed of using, let alone putting together! Like the deep Cadmium Green on the (new) Grass Roots shorts…that color became the grounding shade for the entire release—meaning those shorts go with just about everything. Seen below with our Fairgrounds Lucy top, one of my new favorite woven styles!

And I can’t forget about Dark Cheddar (I swear that’s the pantone name, not just a delicious snack on my mind!) and Swedish Blue. These two colors next to each other made my eyes do a happy dance! You’ve seen that perfect shade of blue on our Ansley Dress (named after a Consultant’s darling daughter) and the Birthday Top, but we’ve been keeping that bold contrast of orange a secret…which you can now see today!

The colors just seem to come to us, like they’ve been patiently waiting their turn in the good ol’ pantone boxes. But the inspiration and the overall VIBE? That can take a little bit of time. Ashley and I went back and forth for a while on what the novelty story would be for this release. We always have these big ideas at first, “let’s have a circus theme,” “ya a big top skirt and pennant trims,” “OH YEAH!” And then these big ideas start changing into smaller and, in my opinion, more unique ones. You see, I don’t think we could ever stick to one certain ‘theme’ but instead we come up with a kaleidoscope of little stories that all work together, but can happily live alone. And this release captures that crazy balance of ‘planning’ and ‘unpredictability’ soooo well. From the ’Tim Burton’ style deliciously dripping ice cream cones, to the rockin’ roller skates on soft knit, and all the sweet treat eating elephants in between, you get a delightful dose of random-ness sprinkled across a wide array of thoughtful styles! Which is the best of both worlds if you ask me!

In the end, the simplest way I’ve come to describe this release is like… “a summer camp birthday party!” But of course, all of these colors, and fabrics, and styles will never feel that simple to me at all. They’re a big batch of beautiful memories with Ashley—trying new color combinations, constant reminders of a crazy, sweaty, balloon-filled day with our team at the photo shoot, and also totally and utterly reminiscent of my favorite gal, Margo. This whole release SCREAMS Margo. And between you and me, she may or may not be living in these styles the past couple weeks!! (The perks of being the designer’s kid, am I right!?)

Cheers to a new release and all of the Spring and Summer celebrations coming our way!

XO,

Sam

PS. Did you guys see that DUMBO releases tomorrow?! I couldn’t believe my eyes!! I wish I could tell you we were so good and planned it, but it’s just a serendipitous coincidence that makes me SMILE! <3

Those outfits are over the top. The little girls wear them so well, but little Margo completely steals my heart.
