IT TAKES A VILLAGE Pt. 1

Dressing mannequins, painting signs, and doing all the crafty-crafts… These are all sure signs that our SECOND Fall conference is just around the corner. Almost 100% (WHAT!!) of our consultants will be making the maiden voyage to Austin next Tuesday and we are trying our very best to pull out all the stops for them. This is the first time we actually rented a fancy-schmancy conference room to host everyone in…I feel so proud that we have a big enough group of gals now to fill a room like that! Did you know our first ever sales conferences was literally held in my office? Yep, we cleaned up our little building and welcomed the whole crew in! While I loved having everyone see where ‘the magic happens’, I think we’d feel very squished in the design room now.

Sometimes we feel a little squished back here as it is! And I LOVE IT. I love working so closely with our whole team. When I first got hired for Eleanor Rose, I had this big office all to myself… But when we started dreaming up Wildflowers, we knew I would need a partner in design…someone that has the other half of my brain in terms of fit, construction, and quality! That’s when we welcomed Mano to the team. Let me tell ya, I was DELIGHTED to share my office with this lady.

My girl Mano is patient, loving, and sweet to the core. I’ve never met someone so warm and loyal. And I’ve never worked with a tech designer that is so flexible with my crazy ideas. She never looks at me and says “we can’t do that” (even though I bet she wants to sometimes!!), even if the idea seems a little tricky, or dang near impossible. She’s in it to win it and will try and try until we nail the design or I say “LET’S START OVER.” I think patience is key when working with any designer and she shows it endlessly to me. I feel so blessed to call her a team mate and a dear friend. Plus, she’s the only gal around I trust with my sweet babe Margo, I swear Mano loves her like I do! How did I get so lucky!?

Now this chick is someone you haven’t heard much about….yet. And I say yet because she’s kind of a big deal! Meet Ashley, our newest designer. When I was pregnant, we began chatting about finding someone to help me design. I felt very protective of my role, and wasn’t going to just hire ANYBODY. I was going to be picky, heck, maybe I was going to be even a little difficult about who we hire… But then this gal I’ve known since high school, but barely knew at all, visits from Indiana, we randomly hang out, and a lightbulb in my brain lit up! She had never designed a thing in her life, but I could tell she had an eye for aesthetics…and I had a feeling that would translate perfectly into design. Well, not to toot my own horn, but a year later she has worked here for just over 6 months and I have never felt better about our Wildflowers designs. There is so much freshness coming your way (her first collection she helped with was Fall ’18 Release 3!), and I think Ashley and her modern take on vintage fabrics and fun silhouettes are to thank! More on this cute girl later, promise! I might even ask her to blog or something for ya sometime!

And I guess since I introduced the two gals that share the design office, I’ll re-introduce myself to those of you that may not know who this crazy Sam person is… I’m 29 and a new mom to my sweet baby girl Margo Denise! We all just took personality tests at the office and I’m an ENFP…which I think makes a lot of sense. I’m kinda boring, but I love to be fun…it’s just that boring is my default (I think the office girls might disagree with this!). My husband Mark and I have been married for 3 years and I’d be lost without his love and support (he’s a stay-at-home super dad!). I’ve been in this wonderful world of girl’s clothing for 10 years this September and I can hardly believe it. I had the best mentor and friend a girl could ask for, she paved the way for all this beauty I get to share with you.

Okay, I think that’s it for introductions today… Goodness knows there will be SO many next week at Conference!! I CAN’T WAIT!!!

XO,

SAM
